Pu-ce-la!

Yesterday after class and siesta, we all met in the plaza to get ready for the soccer game that night. We went to a few bars to look for some food and drinks. The kids from Iowa (who are in the same program as us at Valladolid) had been talking about this "Harry Potter" bar and we really wanted to go see it! Well, turns out they don't have any idea what Harry Potter is, because it was nothing like that...BUT it was still really cool. It was this narrow building with 4 floors and a spiral staircase/tree going up the middle of it. The inside was different than anything else I've seen in Valladolid and they made all their drinks from scratch and they were very good. Oh, and finally a place with normal popcorn ;)

Later we went back to the sports store to get more bufandas for everyone, because it's like a big tradition at every game. While we were there, we found some guy selling tickets for 10€ half the price of what we would pay at the stadium. Haha, at first, we were a little hesitant to take him up on that deal because we thought we were being tricked, but after some investigation, all 11 or 12 of us got one and save like 100€ total. I do love me a bargain...
My discount billete!

My bufanda :)

After a stop at our favorite bar with favorite bar tenders, we started to search for the right bus stop to take to the stadium. And we failed miserably...once again. The first one that we were told to go to ended up being the wrong one, and after following the map to the next bus stop that was suppose to have the right bus, we couldn't find it. A few nice looking people we found on the streets told us we COULD walk to the stadium, but it would be 20-25 minute walk from where we were at that point. So we said okay and they looked at us like we were crazy (maybe they assume all Americans are fat and lazy as they see on TV?) Haha, but it was a VERY long walk in the wrong kind of shoes and we still hadn't found food! From the last bar we left to the stadium was probably a 45 minute trek :/ Haha very fun...

Even after all our mishaps getting to the stadium, we were still there WAY early!

Pu-ce-laa!!! (That's what they chant throughout the entire game. The only chant I was able to decipher, haha. Pucela is what the Valladolid teams was called a hundred years before they became Real Valladolid.

Everyone ready with their bufandas :)

Haha nice pic Miriam ;)

The soccer game was really fun! It's way different than in the United States where everyone goes for the social event, not to sit and actually watch the game. During this game, everyone was into the game and I like it like that :) They didn't have many choices for food or drinks, which I thought was weird, but I befriended the guy at the snack bar because he goes to the same School of Languages as all of us and told him about practicing English with some of us...and I scored myself a free water ;)

On the way home, all the buses were right outside the stadium, so they were easy to find and we didn't have to walk 45 minutes home...thank goodness! My ankles were SO swollen because I wore the worst $7 sandals I have (since I was expecting to have minimal walking by using the bus)...and they were still a little swollen after classes too! Ayeee...I'm gonna have to do some handstands and fix this!!

Tonight we're going to go to our friend's friend's new discoteca that is opening up tonight, so it should be fun!

  2. Haha there's literally a bar at every other shop...we have no choice but to go to a bar! Some of them are more like cafes than bars, but most of them are bars! Haha Spain is full of a bunch of lazy people who don't wanna work and go to school and they just party all night...learned ALL about that in my culture class! They even have a name for the generation because it's so bad..Generación Ni-Ni. They don't care about nuthin! Haha I'm so glad it's not like this at home! But it will be fun for 2 weeks I suppose :) There is always something going on!!
